Job Description: Wesley Christian Child Development Center, a Mission of Wesley United Methodist Church located at 1212 W. Calhoun St. Macomb, IL is seeking a Child Care Center Director. We are seeking an individual who is energetic, organized, a problem solver, and possesses great communication skills. This individual needs to be passionate about early education, able to create a positive learning environment for children and be dedicated to the success of our next generation.

 

Wesley Christian Child Development Center is a private Christian-based Center. Its goal is to provide quality, educational, family centered, developmentally appropriate care.

 

The city of Macomb is a quiet university town and is home to both Western Illinois University and Spoon River College. With a population of approximately 19,000 residents, Macomb has all the charm of both rural and city life. We are just 75-90 miles away from three metropolitan areas and have Amtrak service to Chicago twice daily. Macomb is also host to numerous community wide cultural, athletic, and academic enrichment opportunities year-round.

 

Beginning Date:  Immediately

 

Responsibilities:  The Director must provide leadership and planning for the Center.  The Director works cooperatively with staff, parents, DCFS, and other regulatory groups, as well as Church oversight committees. He or she is responsible for scheduling staff to meet the needs of children, as well as to maintain compliance with state regulations. The Director is responsible for submitting a budget, keeping accurate financial and compliance records, tracking staff training, staff evaluations, and facilities management. The Director must communicate well with families to encourage parent participation.  The successful applicant must be able to fully support our Christian curriculum.

Work Schedule: Must be flexible to work a daily schedule that will include hours between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Director Qualified in the state of Illinois per DCFS Standards.

  2. Applicants must have 64 college semester credits of General Education, 21 Early Childhood Education or Child Development college semester credits, either a Gateways to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential or 3 semester hours of college credit or 3 points of credential approved training in administration, leadership or management. (Minimum)

  3. Bachelors or Masters degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and 3 years successful experience in child care, preschool or kindergarten. (Preferred)

  4. Be current in first aid and CPR by time of employment.

  5. Ability to pass a background check.
